About Hepatitis C

About Hepatitis C The CDC (Center For Disease Control)says "Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is the most common chronic blood borne infection in the United States". Victims and patients of HCV continue to outnumber HIV by 5-1 nationally (5 million HCV infect vs. 1 million HIV infected). The diseases are similar in that both are spread by infected blood and blood products and both bring negative connotation by infected association. HCV is not an STD.

Walk about the United States and you will find 1 in every 50 people infected. The thing is if you know 50 people -- you know someone infected. If your answer is "No I don't" the sad part about this disease is .... yes you do.

Globally

1 in 10 people are infected. 200 million people. 200 million victims of a disease silently responsible for massive health care costs. Compare 200 million victims of HCV to 33 million global victims of HIV.
